Stack’s Bowers Galleries Thos. H. Law of Gold Coin Offering Embodies 700 Years of British History

One of the most impressive and historical collections of British gold coinage auctioned in the United States will fall under the gavel at Stacks Bowers Galleries Official Auction of the ANA Worlds Fair of Money the largest national numismatic convention held in the United States August 9-11, 2013, in Chicago, Illinois. 

Stacks Bowers and Ponterio Sells Millions in Hong Kong

Stacks Bowers and Ponterio conducted their bi-annual Hong Kong sale from April 1-3 at the Sheraton Hotel in Kowloon. The sale featured more than 2,500 lots of Chinese and other Asian rarities, including both coins and paper money, and realized a strong $6,307,830. At almost all times, there was standing room only in the auction room, and throughout the auction the bidding was extremely competitive. Executive vice president Rick Ponterio noted, Last weeks auction in Hong Kong proved that the Asian numismatic market is thriving. In fact, across the board, the market is demonstrably stronger than this time last year. Demand for high quality rarities is high, and the prices realized clearly reinforce this fact. We are looking forward to another successful auction later this year.

Stacks Bowers and Ponterio Official NYINC Auction Realizes $7.3 Million

An extremely rare 1902 Pattern Crown in Gold, PCGS SP-62 brought $117,500 as the top lot in the Stacks Bowers and Ponterio Official NYINC Auction, held January 814, 2013, at The Waldorf Astoria New York, where collectors focused heavily on world coins and paper money, including examples of early ancient rarities and Roman coinage from The Robert O. Ebert Collection.

Leading rare coin auctioneer Stacks Bowers Galleries conducted one of the most highly-anticipated events in numismatic history on January 24, 2013 with the sale of the record-setting Cardinal Collection. The highlight of the evening was the $10,016,875 sale of the coveted 1794 Flowing Hair silver dollar, a superb Gem Specimen example, the finest known to exist. This set a new world-record price for any coin.
