2021 has been a stellar year in the numismatic auction industry. Stack’s Bowers Galleries has sold over $214,000,000 worth of coins, currency, and other numismatic items. This number represents the total of 72,541 lots sold in our sales. Among those items were 10 that realized over $1,000,000. Two sold for over $7,500,000. These sales comprised 24,325 lots of U.S. coins; 5,218 lots of U.S. currency; 5,436 lots of numismatic Americana; 1,382 lots of Ancient coins; 23,249 lots of world coins; 8,155 lots of world paper money; 4,829 lots of bullion; and one piece of Cryptocurrency. In addition to auction sales, we also sold many numismatic pieces via direct retail sales, including the private sale of the Hawaii Five-O 1913 Liberty Head nickel for a price in excess of $4,000,000.
