Stacks Bowers Galleries is honored to have been selected to auction the coin collection of the late T. Boone Pickens, influential businessman and financier. Pickens gained recognition in the 1980s through his impact on the oil industry and eventually earned the nickname Oracle of Oil. He went on to apply his expertise in many other areas of the energy industry, advocating for natural gas, wind power, nuclear power and other alternative energies.

Stacks Bowers Galleries was proud to conduct Part II of the Sydney F. Martin Collection in Baltimore at their Winter 2022 Showcase Auction, the official auction of the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Expo. Martin was a longtime supporter and enthusiastic member of the Colonial Coin Collectors Club (C4), and it was fitting that his sale was also the official auction of that clubs Annual Convention.
Colonial Coin Collectors Club (C4) Recognized Christine Karstedt With Honorary Life Membership
At the annual C4 Board of Directors meeting held in Baltimore, Maryland, last week, the C4 Board of Directors unanimously agreed to recognize Christine Karstedts contributions in the area of colonial numismatics by designating her an Honorary Life Member of the Club. Christine has been a regular dues-paying member of C4 for many years. This is the highest honor that can be bestowed by the Club and is rarely awarded. Christine is only the sixth person since 1993 and the first woman to be recognized in this way. She joins past honorees Q. David Bowers, Eric Newman, Kenneth Bressett, Phil Mossman, and Gary Trudgen.
