Mind Your Business

Question: Why does it say “Mind Your Business” on the Continental Dollar?

Answer: The Continental dollar motto “Mind Your Business” was suggested by Ben Franklin as our national motto. Franklin meant that the new country should attend to being a country and mind its business in general, rather than as a personal note to individuals. The same motto, Mind Your Business, appeared on the Fugio coppers of 1787, the first coinage authorized by the fledgling United States.
