Our October Official Auction of the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Baltimore Expo
will feature Part III of the Joel R. Anderson Collection of United States Paper
Money and the Caine Collection of Federal Proofs and Essays. In addition, we
are also offering a portion of an extensive error collection certified by PCGS
Currency that will surely attract attention from error enthusiasts.
The sale will contain well over 40 pieces featuring dramatic errors, many of
which are found on modern pieces. Included in the October Baltimore sale is a
FR. 2177-L 2001 $100 Error note with multiple foldovers and a printed tear.
This impressive anomaly carries a conservative $3,000 to $5,000 estimate and is
in a desirable 55PPQ holder. A pre-face print foldover error, coupled with a
violent cutting error is found on Fr. 2083-F, a piece that shows only a 20
Dollar obligation, a Federal Reserve Seal and a partial third printing from the
front design, with a portion of the back design folded over. Two modern replacements,
a 2006 $50 and a 2009A $100, both Star notes, are offered that show dramatic
cutting errors. These colorized pieces are not often found with such errors,
and are even more difficult to obtain when coupled with a star.
In addition to these pieces there are plenty of Type II inverted overprinted
pieces, some gutter fold errors, a few misaligned face prints, some third print
on reverse pieces, as well as some offsets, foldovers, and pieces missing various
prints.
This collection should attract quite a bit of attention when it crosses the
podium this October. For more information, contact Aris@StacksBowers.Com, or
