An
exceedingly rare GA-86 1777 $4 “Liberty Cap” note with a blue-green seal will
be featured in Stack’s Bowers’ March Baltimore Currency Auction. The note is
one of only three confirmed examples known and the first we have been able to
offer since our sale of the John J. Ford Jr, Collection Part X in May of 2005.
That example realized $23,000. The present note has been graded Very Fine 35
PPQ by PCGS and displays excellent embossing and wholly original paper. The
note will carry a pre-auction estimate of $10,000-$15,000.
