This week’s Stack’s Bowers Currency iAuction features 151 lots of United States and world currency. Among many great notes offered this week is a Fr.52 1880 $2 Legal Tender Note graded Choice Uncirculated 63 EPQ by PMG (lot 22657). The crisp note features a boldly printed large brown spiked Treasury seal and the engraved signatures of Treasury officials Bruce and Wyman. The lot carries an estimate of $1250 to $1750.
Also featured among the 64 lots of US currency is a Fr. 710 1918 $1 Federal Reserve Bank Note from the Boston Federal Reserve District. The note (lot 22675) is graded Choice Uncirculated 63 by PMG and features dark inks and a bold overprint and is estimated at $400 to $600.
Several high grade Confederate type notes are also offered this week. A T-65 1864 $100 “Lucy Pickens” note graded Choice Uncirculated 63 EPQ (lot 22648) carries an estimate of $200 to $300. An impressive T-66 1864 $50 graded Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ (lot 22649) is also estimated at $200 to $300.
Several rare Mexican notes are featured in the world portion of the iAuction. A Pick-S223p Banco De Londres Mexico Y Sud America 100 Pesos Face Proof produced by the American Bank Note Company (lot 22761) is graded Very Fine and carries an estimate of $1000 to $1500. A Pick-S474p Banco de Zacatecas 1 Peso Face Proof (lot 22766) is Uncirculated and estimated at $900 to $1200.
