Collectors of top of the population high denomination notes
will be interested to find that the finest PMG graded Fr.2200-K 1928 $500
Federal Reserve Note from the Dallas district will be offered as part of the Stack’s
Bowers Galleries Official U.S. Currency Auction of the ANA World’s Fair of
Money this August in Pittsburgh.
Graded Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ, the note sits alone atop the
PMG population report for the catalog number. Broad margins and ideal centering
frame the darkly inked design. The portrait of William McKinley at center is sharply
printed and vividly detailed. Deep green overprint inks are boldly displayed
and deeply embossed into the creamy white paper of the note.
The note carries a pre-auction estimate of $30,000-$50,000. The
Stack’s Bowers Galleries Official Currency Auction of the ANA World’s Fair of
