Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
The City of Boston is gearing up for the annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration on March 17, 2024, and we hope you can be part of the city’s festivities. While you are here in town, make sure your itinerary includes a stop at the Stack’s Bowers Gallery located near Faneuil Hall. We have a variety of St. Patrick-themed numismatic items featured in our showcase for the month of March.
One such item is an 18th century Conder token featuring St. Patrick on the obverse. The 1789 ½ Penny Token was issued at Cronebane by the Associated Irish Mine Company. The Associated Irish Mine Company (AIMC) was founded in 1787 by Abraham Mills, William Roe, Thomas Smith, Charles Caldwell, and Brabazon Noble. Its head office was located at 184 Great Britain Street in Dublin. These copper tokens were payable at Cronebane Lodge or at the head office in Dublin where the company lasted until 1798. Other featured items include various sterling medals relating to St. Patrick, Irish coins, and currencies. So come on down and check it out.
If you are looking to cash in on your holdings or want to sell your relative’s coin and currency collection, you may have found your pot of gold this St. Patrick’s Day season. Our team of numismatists here in Boston is ready to help you find that rare piece in the collection.
