Next week our November 2020 auction crosses the block at the
Balboa Bay Resort in Newport Beach, California. Our historic November 2020
Showcase Auction is marked by several significant cabinets that are being
offered to collectors for the first time in decades.
Part One of the Larry
H. Miller Collection will cross the auction block in our November sale, highlighted by a
world-class set of Morgan and Peace dollars, as well as sets of Lincoln cents,
Buffalo nickels, Mercury dimes, Standing Liberty quarters, Walking Liberty half
dollars and classic commemorative issues, all of exceptional quality. Part Two
of this legendary collection will be featured in our December 2020 auction.
The highly-anticipated Larry
Ness Collection of Indian Peace Medals represents one of the
best and most complete Indian Peace medal collections of all time, offering
a remarkable 36 awarded examples in silver, alongside several rarities in
bronze, a representative collection of French, Canadian, and British medals,
and a pair of very rare medals related to the fur trade.
We are also thrilled to
present Part
2 of the E Pluribus Unum Collection, featuring just under 500 lots of United
States colonial coins and Washington pieces, including nearly 40 Machin’s Mills
halfpence by die marriage, more than 60 Connecticut coppers, and over 200
pieces of Washingtoniana.
The
Naples Bay Collection is a magnificent group of United States type coins that was assembled from
the 1950s through the 1980s and has been held privately since. It showcases
some of the most iconic rarities from the early U.S. Mint, as well as from the
later Morgan dollar, Saint-Gaudens double eagle and classic commemorative
series.
The
Monterrey Collection was also built over the second half of the 20th century and is now coming to
market for the first time in a generation. It features a complete set of Proof
Morgan dollars that was previously housed in a Capital Plastics frame, as well
as an array of iconic type coins and key dates.
A virtually complete set
of Morgan and Peace silver dollars from the
Abigail Collection includes more than two dozen Proofs. Formed many decades ago and
stored in individual paper envelopes, the Abigail Collection is entirely new to
the market and has only just been evaluated by modern grading services.
These important cabinets
of U.S. coins and Numismatic Americana are accompanied by an impressive selection
of United
States currency marked by significant Silver Certificates, Gold Certificates, and
exciting Dual Denomination errors. Highlights include a PCGS
Currency About New 53 PPQ 1880 $50 Silver Certificate, a 1928
$1000 Gold Certificate certified PCGS Banknote About Unc 50 PPQ, and a 1914
$20/$10 Dual Denomination Federal Reserve Note graded PMG About Unc 50.
