Arecently discovered Original Series $100 National Banknote from the SalemNational Banking Company of Salem, New Jersey, Charter #1326, will havecollectors abuzz when it crosses the block at the Stacks Bowers GalleriesOfficial Currency Auction of the ANA Worlds Fair of Money this August inAnaheim, CA. The note is the first First Charter $100 to come forward from thestate of New Jersey and is now one of just about 40 Original Series $100s knownfrom all note issuing banks combined.

Brent Pogue Collection, offered by Stacks Bowers Galleries andSothebys at Sothebys New York galleries, realized a total of $16,722,600 for61 lots, with an average lot value of more than $274,000 per coin. TheFarouk-Pittman 1833 Proof half eagle led all coins sold at $1,351,250. A famed1795 Draped Bust silver dollar, last sold in the 1980 Garrett Collection sale,also surpassed the million-dollar mark, realizing $1,057,500.
