This simply extraordinary Kellogg & Co. $20 is considered by many to be the single finest circulation strike Kellogg $20 in existence. PCGS agreed, grading it MS-65, the highest grade they have given to a coin of this issue. This is the only example graded at this level and CAC has also added their approval. The coin’s immaculate fields, full details, and rich, even color certainly appealed to bidders, as did its nearly 100-year provenance that could be traced to a Henry Chapman sale in 1924. When it crossed the auction block as lot 3310 in our March 21 Rarities Night Session it brought $552,000, well above the pre-sale estimate.
