On March 22, 2022, Künker will sell Part II of the Mark and Lottie Salton Collection with the sale taking place in Osnabrück, Germany. Our two firms were chosen by the Saltons to disperse their holdings, many thousands of coins, chiefly from Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire and Europe from the medieval period to the 20th century.
On January 16, as part of the Stack’s Bowers Galleries Official Auction at the New York International Numismatic Convention, Part I of the collection was sold. This catalog, offering Ancient Greek as well as Polish and Russian coins, realized over $5.3 million, setting the stage for future presentations from this illustrious cabinet.
The late Mark and Lottie Salton had each escaped from Nazi Germany in the 1930s, eventually finding their way to the United States where they met and married. At their behest, proceeds from the sale of the collections will benefit equally three organizations committed to the remembrance of the victims of the Holocaust and to ensuring that their fates will never be repeated: the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), the American Society for Yad Vashem, and the Leo Baeck Institute.
We invite you to peruse the European gold coins and medals being offered by Künker in Part II of the Salton Collection, either by downloading a pdf of the catalog from our website or by viewing online.
