One of the finest known $5000 Federal
Reserve Notes is set to cross the auction block as part of Stack’s Bowers
Galleries’ Official United States Currency Auction at the ANA World’s Fair of
Money this August in Pittsburgh. The note is a Fr.2221-K Series of 1934 note
from the Dallas district and has been graded Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ by PMG. It
is one of just six $5000 FRNs that have achieved that grade at PMG with none
finer.
This example features bright paper and
broad margins. The low serial number of 60 is displayed is vibrant lime green
inks at the bottom left and upper right, as is the sharply detailed Treasury
Seal at right. This incredible high denomination rarity will carry a
pre-auction estimate of $300,000-$400,000 when it is offered in our August
auction.
