Get Ready! Get Set for Baltimore!

Coming at the Whitman Coin Expo in Baltimore next month is the
greatest series of auction sessions we have ever had at that popular event, Not
one, not two, but seven separate catalogs are nearing
completion!

Early American coins come to the fore. To get ready for this event
I encourage you to take the latest copy of the Guide Book of United States Coins and spend an hour or two reading
the front text and then the listings of coins of the colonial era.
Massachusetts silver coins, Sommer Islands issues, Washington pieces, and more
await you, plus a marvelous offering of copper coins from the 1780s—Machin’s
Mills, Vermont, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Massachusetts.

The Colonial Coin Collectors Club (C4) will be having its annual
meeting at the Baltimore Expo. Founded in 1993, this is one of the most dynamic
specialty groups in numismatics today. Check their website and sign up. The
cost is minimal and the pleasures are great. I have been a member since day one.

Although the colonial coins will be memorable, they are just the
tip of the iceberg. The John W. Adams Collection of Comitia Americana medals
will long echo in the halls of numismatics as will our presentation of
Washingtoniana from the Collection of W.S. Baker, consigned by the Historical
Society of Pennsylvania. Additional important Numismatic Americana will also be
offered as part of the main catalog.

Federal coins from half cents to double eagles await you—from
inexpensive Morgan silver dollars to rare gold, from key “type” coins (1796
quarter, half dollar, and quarter eagle; Mint State 1808 quarter eagle—you name
it), famous rarities (one of the finest 1802 half dimes, early half dollars by
Overton numbers, plus an 1838-O), and more—including tokens and paper money.

Get ready! Make plans to come to Baltimore and immerse yourself in
several days of numismatic excitement and non-stop activity. Lot viewing opens on Tuesday, November 12 and
the auction sessions run from Wednesday, November 13 through Saturday, November
16. I guarantee you will have a good time! We will roll the red
carpet out for you.

The Whitman Coin  Expo is always dynamic—one of the
best-attended in America. Draw a 500-mile circle around the city and you get
the vast majority of numismatists in America. Driving is easy, and the
Baltimore-Washington International Airport is one of the most modern and
efficient and is less than a half-hour ride to town. A survey of leading
dealers revealed that Baltimore is the number one favorite city for
conventions.

The Whitman show and our auction will be at our usual venue, the
Baltimore Convention Center in the heart of the Inner Harbor district with many
fine hotels, museums, and tourist attractions. The convention hosts hundreds of
dealers and always buzzes with activity.

If you do not plan to attend, the Internet will give you an “I
am there!” presence. Watch the action and press the “Bid!” button when special
items come up for sale.

I look forward to having you be a part of our November auction program.
