Our March Hong Kong Sale, held at the Mira Hotel, March
25 at 1:00 PM HKT will offer a few very impressive People’s Republic of
China notes.
One of the top highlights can be found in lot 50163, a
1951 5,000 Yuan from the Xinjiang Province in a PMG VF 20 holder, estimated at 40,000
to $60,000. A significant 1951 10,000 Yuan follows in lot 50164 showcasing the
Camel Caravan design. It carries a very modest $25,000 to $30,000
estimate.
Perhaps the most popular note in the PRC section
however, is a wide format, 1953 Issued 10 Yuan in a PMG EF 40 holder offered in
lot 50174. This popular design shows the Farm Couple vignette at center, and
has attracted tremendous interest as of late, with some strong realizations in
recent years. The offered note has bright inks, and bears an estimate of only
$20,000 to $30,000.
