In our January New York
International Sale we will be offering a 2 Dollar (BC-4) and a 5 Dollar (BC-6)
Banque du Canada notes each of which has Serial Number 9! Both notes are from
the F block, and both are seen in PMG 65 EPQ holders. These notes are extremely
difficult to find in Gem, and the extremely low serial number is an added
bonus.
Reflecting the rarity of
these pieces in this condition, PMG’s population report shows only six total
BC-4 pieces in Gem, with only one graded 66 and the other five in 65. There are
only three Gem examples listed for the BC-6 with none finer than the 65 EPQ we
are offering.
Both pieces were printed
by the British American Bank Note Company, have Osborne/Towers signature
combinations and are plate position A. These notes look like they are fresh off
the press, with bright inks, striking portraits, and good embossing.
These rare pieces will be
offering as individual lots in our January New York International Sale. For
questions regarding bidding, and registering please contact Stack’s Bowers
Galleries at info@stacksbowers.com. We are still collecting consignments
for our New York International Sale. If you are interested in consigning,
