Many of you may remember
Lot 30006 in our ANA World’s Fair of Money auction, the South American Specimen
Book that fetched over $140,000. That book contained a variety of older
Specimens, Proofs, and vignettes from the American Bank Note Company, Waterlow
& Sons, and Bradbury Wilkinson. The bulk of the notes were from before 1940,
but they were all unattributed and mounted onto the pages, which was problematic
for many.
For our January New York
City sale, we are offering another specimen book. However this book will
contain more modern, and in some cases more interesting material. All of the
notes will come UNMOUNTED and will be individually placed in slots of
the book for your convenience. On the reverse of each holder the Pick number along
with the Country of the piece will be included. The volume is ordered
alphabetically by country, and then in Pick order.
The book contains a
variety of Proofs, Specimens, Color Trials, Progressive Proofs, and Progressive
Tints. The majority of the notes are uncirculated but a few display some wear
and tear. The official grade range would be Very Fine to Uncirculated, with
over 90% of the lots being AU/UNC.
