Our January 2022 NYINC auction has been posted to our website for viewing and bidding. Catalogs containing the live session have also been mailed, but please be sure to browse the internet sessions of World Paper Money at StacksBowers.com — Session I and Session K.
Featured in the Canadian section of our live currency Session B is lot 20055, a Banque du Canada P-47 1935 20 Dollars in PCGS Banknote Choice Uncirculated 64.
This is an incredible opportunity to acquire this high grade French text 1935 twenty-dollar note, here in a lovely Choice Uncirculated state of preservation. Dark pink underprint is in the signature panel, as well as emanating from the central "20" counter vignette. Jet black ink comprises the intricately lathed border design, as well as the bank name at top center. The portrait at left is of a young Princess Elizabeth, later Queen Elizabeth II. On the reverse is allegorical agriculture watching over a farmer. PCGS Banknote has not released a population report, but we can surmise that this note would be toward the top. Worthy of a premium bid, especially for the Canadian paper collector looking to upgrade to this lovely example.
