1918 $500 FRN Leads Offerings for Stack’s Bowers Galleries’ April U.S. Currency CCO Auction

Stack’s Bowers Galleries’ April United States Currency
Collectors Choice Online Auction features an exciting array of high-powered
notes including a Fr.1132-G 1918 $500 Federal Reserve Note from the Chicago
district. This evenly circulated note has been graded Very Fine 30 by PMG and
is found in lot 91086.

Depicted at the center of the note’s face is John Marshall,
who served as the fourth Chief Justice of the United States, from 1801 to 1835.
Marshall is often regarded as among the most influential judges to ever sit on
the Supreme Court. Marshall also served with the Continental Army during the
American Revolution and as the United States secretary of State under President
John Adams. The back shows the popular vignette De Soto Discovering the
Mississippi in excellent detail and with pleasing dark green inks.

The note displays bright paper, full margins and boldly
printed inks. Lot 91086 carries an estimate of $20,000-$30,000. All 145 lots of
the April CCO auction are now available for viewing and bidding at
