Stack’s Bowers Galleries is presenting a December 2021 Hong Kong Auction that features some incredible Asian rarities, including a Chinese 1908 silver dollar. This example is the only piece that PCGS has graded as a Specimen, thus designated as this rarity is normally not seen with such reflective surfaces and sharp details. This PCGS grade and the attractive toning seen on the coin make the estimate of $100,000 to $200,000 seem very reasonable.
Coins in Motion seeks to enable collectors, bidders, and consignors to accurately appreciate how Stack’s Bowers Galleries coins look in hand. Ultra-high resolution animations depict how luster moves over the coin’s surfaces, while the rotating motion allows for any possible imperfections to be revealed.
