Astonishing 10,000 Rupees Specimen
In our upcoming Official Auction this August at the ANA World’s Fair of Money we will be offering an incredibly special 10,000 Rupees Specimen from India. This note is one of the true treasures of India, and one of the highlights in the section of extremely collectible Indian Banknotes that we are offering. This issue is a key to even the most advanced of collections, and the offered note is the sole example certified by PMG. There is just a hint of circulation, but all pertinent detail is maintained and the centering is exquisite. Arched Reserve Bank of India on top with an Ashoka pillar at center, and serving as the left side’s watermark. Rs/10000/Rs watermark at right. H.V.R Iyengar signature at the Governor’s Panel.
A language panel is at center on the reverse with the Reserve Bank of India arched above. Reserve Bank of India seal at bottom center with Dus Hajaar Rupaye in Hindi below the right watermark, and Ten Thousand Rupees below the left. Reserve Bank of India Seal type 1, with a type 4 language panel. The note’s dimensions are 18.6 x 11.4 cm.
Issued notes of the type are very scarce since being demonetized, as the majority were returned to banks; their value was simply too high for the time to not be redeemed by most. This Specimen variety, being the only known example, hasn’t surfaced in over half a decade, and is the first of its kind we have offered. This remarkable opportunity in our August ANA auction should attract great excitement as a rare chance to own one of the true wonders of Indian paper money.
