In Lot 60188 of our
upcoming April Hong Kong Sale we are offering a scarce pair of issued high
denomination notes from the Straits Settlements. Crossing the block will be a 1925
issued 50 Dollar note, and a 1925 100 Dollar note, each of which features great
color.
Both pieces are seen with
printed dates of “24th September 1925.” The 50 Dollar note shows a blue color
scheme, while the 100 Dollar note features red and green color. With the
exception of the obligation, the notes share virtually the same design, with identical
signatures, King George V vignette at top, elephant watermarks, and tiger at
center.
The 50 Dollar Pick 12a
note is in a PMG Very Fine 20 Net, Rust holder. The elusive 100 Dollar Pick 13
note is in a PMG Very Fine 25 Net, PVC Damage, Minor Repair, Minor Rust holder.
The notes are very appealing and are going to be highlights of any collection
they are added to.
